About Mrs. Monks

Welcome

I am so honored to be a part of our St. Madeleine Sophie School community! Teaching has always been a special passion, and I strive to provide joyful, engaging, and rigorous instruction that is accessible for all learners, and to nurture a class community rich in kindness and empathy. Previous to teaching Kindergarten, I supported our school’s mission of inclusion by providing individualized instruction and interventions in math and reading.

This will be my eighth year of teaching here at St. Madeleine Sophie, and my third year teaching Kindergarten. I cannot wait for all the wonderful adventures that await us!

A Little About Me

I grew up and attended St. Philomena Catholic School in Des Moines, Washington. After graduating from Holy Names Academy, I attended Gonzaga University where I received my bachelors degree and certification in Elementary Education, Special Education, and Early Childhood Special Education.

I live in Des Moines with my husband. I love to spend time watching classic old movies, reading books, learning how to golf, and exploring the beautiful Pacific Northwest hiking trails.
